Like Hornsby-Dunlap Elementary, Smith Elementary replaced an existing school. The design utilized the exact same building footprint and floor plan as its prototype, while fitting on its own unique, continuously-occupied campus. The two campuses were designed simultaneously, however Smith Elementary school was about 6 weeks ahead in construction. This allowed the design and construction teams to incorporate lessons learned for the construction of Hornsby-Dunlap Elementary.
