Design Architect

Pfluger

The latest elementary school to Del Valle ES replaces one of the oldest campuses in the district with a distinct new building on the same historic campus.  The school features polished concrete slab-on-grade floors, tilt-up concrete wall panels and vaulted Commons learning spaces with exposed steel roof framing.  The mechanical systems of the building are supported on concealed light-gauge metal framed platforms in each wing.  The design was challenged to fit the single-story building on a continuously-occupied campus, while also serving as the basis for a prototype campus for Smith Elementary School.
