Texas A&M Science & Technology Building
This 140,000 sq. ft. facility includes research labs, classrooms, collaborative spaces and faculty offices for A&M's Kinesiology and Natural Sciences programs. It also creates space for the university’s Center for Information Technology and Cyber Security. “It provides a pathway to rapidly evolving STEM and cyber security programs that will generate new inventions and grow our economy,” commented A&M-SA President Cynthia Teniente-Matson during the building’s opening ceremonies. As a multipurpose facility, the building is also home to the Mays Center where students gain opportunities to learn by doing through community service, civic engagement, internships, job-shadowing and community-based, work-study programs. Datum Rios produced comprehensive early structural design packages for the purpose of developing a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) and to accelerate construction. The GMP documents were delivered just two months after we received the notice to proceed. Our foundation and structural drawings were all completed in a fast-track, four-month timeframe.
